*Faux* is essentially a French word meaning false or fake. (pronounced foe)
A faux finish may be the perfect finishing touch to complement your home's unique decor. They can be designed to transform virtually any area of your home including fireplaces and columns.
The following are examples of "just a few" of the many Faux Finish techniques available.
Marbleizing
Faux marbleing can be done to make walls or furniture look like real marble. This can be done using either plaster or glaze techniques.
In this painting, the client desired a formal look to their dining room ceiling. The end result was stunning!
Trompe l'oeil
Meaning "trick the eye" in French, is a realistic painting technique often used in murals, to create an illusion that fools or tricks the eye.
This wall is in a dark basement and was plain white when the project began. The end result gave the warmth of a log cabin, with a spectacular outside view!
Color washing
A free-form finish that creates subtle variations of color using multiple hues of glaze blended together to create a free floating color effect.
Crackle
a faux painting technique that produces a finish that looks like old cracked paint with older layers of paint showing through.
Break away Brick
A procedure using a paint and plaster technique to make it look as though a wall is breaking apart, leaving exposed brick underneath.
